“Hiring the best is your most important task.” – Steve Jobs
SCM Talent Group embodies this philosophy of “hiring the best” and it is by far our “most important task”. We firmly believe that in order to fully optimize your supply chain, you must make it a top priority to hire the best supply chain talent that you can possibly find.
To that extent, we exist to help optimize your supply chain by connecting you with the best supply chain talent in the marketplace.
SCM Talent Group is a national supply chain recruiting and executive search firm that recruits across the full spectrum of the supply chain discipline.
Our Founder, Rodney Apple, has worked as a Supply Chain Recruiter for most of his 18-year career and has personally filled over 1,000 professional to executive level supply chain positions for clients ranging from Fortune 15 to start-up.
Rodney began his career in supply chain recruiting back in 2001 when he accepted a recruiting assignment with The Home Depot – the world's largest home improvement retailer and a Fortune 15 corporation at the time.
Rodney was initially tasked by Home Depot’s SVP of Global Logistics to help build a brand new supply chain department for the company which consisted of recruiting a VP of Supply Chain, Director of Replenishment and eleven Supply Chain Managers (one per Home Depot’s eleven merchandising categories). After successfully recruiting a team of all-stars that helped redefine the company’s supply chain strategy while cutting millions from the bottom line, Rodney was asked to stay onboard to lead professional and executive recruitment for the entire Global Logistics organization.
While at Home Depot, Rodney’s passion for supply chain continued to grow and the dream to start a supply chain recruiting firm was born. In June of 2004, Rodney officially took the “leap of faith” and formed SCM Talent Group with the goal of helping other companies optimize their supply chains by connecting them with world-class supply chain talent.
SCM Talent Group’s first client engagement was with The Coca-Cola Company where Rodney consulted onsite at the company’s headquarters in Atlanta and led professional and executive recruitment for the Global Supply Chain organization. The scope was very broad and included Manufacturing (22 beverage plants), Supply Chain Strategy, Global Sourcing & Procurement, Logistics, Supply & Demand Planning, Continuous Improvement, Global Quality, Engineering, Sustainability and supporting functions such as Human Resources, Finance and Environmental, Health & Safety.
After filling close to 1,000 supply chain positions between The Home Depot and The Coca-Cola Company, Rodney decided to expand SCM Talent Group’s service offerings beyond retained recruiting engagements. The firm currently offers four unique and customizable supply chain recruitment solutions designed to handle any type of supply chain hiring need for any organization.
SCM Talent Group also has provided supply chain recruiting services to clients such as Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Dollar Tree Stores, Cummins Inc., and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), to name a few. The firm has recruited across numerous industries such as Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Retail, Food & Beverage, Hi-Tech, Healthcare, Energy & Utilities, Automotive, Telecommunications, Logistics & Transportation, Chemicals and Management Consulting.
In addition to leading the business, Rodney authors The Supply Chain Talent Blog where he shares best practices in supply chain recruiting, talent development, job search strategy, resume optimization, interviewing techniques, etc. On occasion he is asked to speak at supply chain conferences and associations. For example, Rodney spoke on a panel at last year's annual CSCMP Global Conference on the topic of Supply Chain Talent Development and was interviewed by SupplyChainBrain on the topic of Winning the Supply Chain Talent Hunt.
