SCM Talent Group, LLC was founded in Atlanta, GA by Rodney Apple in 2004. Rodney has worked in supply chain recruiting for the majority of his 22-year career, both in corporate recruiting (Coca-Cola, Home Depot, Kimberly-Clark, Cummins, PWC) and executive search environments. To date, he has successfully filled more than 1,000 supply chain positions ranging from executive-level in Fortune 500 headquarters settings to leadership and staff-level roles across large networks of manufacturing and distribution facilities within the United States.
Spanning almost a decade, Rodney worked onsite at the corporate headquarters for The Coca-Cola Company and The Home Depot where he led professional and executive recruiting for both of their Global Supply Chain organizations. This experience allowed Rodney to gain a deep understanding of end-to-end Supply Chain Management and is where he began building his vast network of contacts and relationships within Logistics, Global Sourcing & Procurement, Manufacturing, Inventory Management, Continuous Improvement, Engineering, Quality, Sustainability and related disciplines.
Building upon his successes at Home Depot and Coca-Cola, and subsequent supply chain recruiting projects with Kimberly-Clark, Cummins and PWC, Rodney decided to expand the company’s service offerings in 2012 beyond exclusive retained client engagements. SCM Talent Group currently offers a broad range of customizable supply chain recruiting services that include Retained Executive Search, Contract Staffing and Contingency Search. The firm is headquartered in downtown Asheville, NC and supports clients across most major industries throughout the United States.
Founder Rodney Apple began working in supply chain recruitment supporting PricewaterhouseCoopers and Andersen Consulting as they built their supply chain advisory practices.
Rodney recruited and built the very first Supply Chain department for The Home Depot (1 VP, 1 Director and 11 Sr. Supply Chain Managers) and subsequently led all professional and executive recruitment for their Global Logistics and Supply Chain organization.
SCM Talent Group was officially founded by Rodney Apple in Atlanta, GA soon after he left The Home Depot.
SCM Talent Group’s first client was The Coca-Cola Company where Rodney consulted onsite at their HQs in Atlanta for 6 years, leading all manufacturing and supply chain recruitment for North America.
Rodney landed a client engagement with Kimberly-Clark where he led recruitment for their supply chain, manufacturing and continuous improvement organizations.
Rodney engaged with Cummins to help recruit talent for their newly formed Supply Chain Center of Excellence (COE).
Rodney relocated SCM Talent Group from Atlanta, GA to Asheville, NC and began expanded the firm’s staff and service offerings beyond retained client engagements.
Rodney became the Supply Chain Career Coach for APICS, the premier professional association for supply chain management with over 45,000 global members.
SCM Talent Group purchased a new office space in downtown Asheville, NC, more than quadrupling office space to support the firm’s rapid growth.
Rodney was selected for the brand new APICS Magazine department “Professional Development” where he contributes articles with insightful career tips and advice designed specifically for supply chain management professionals.

In addition to leading SCM Talent Group, Rodney has been serving as the APICS Career Coach since 2014 (APICS is the leading professional association for supply chain and operations management consisting of 45,000+ members in 100+ countries). In this role, he is responsible for providing supply chain career development advice and content for APICS members which includes publishing white papers and hosting corresponding webinars on a quarterly basis. In addition, Rodney serves as the APICS Magazine Author for the “Professional Development” department.
Rodney Apple has been working in professional recruiting since 1995 when he began his career with Aerotek which was the fastest growing technical staffing firm at the time. He has specialized in end-to-end supply chain recruitment ever since 2001 when he accepted a consulting engagement with The Home Deport to recruit and build the very first supply chain department for the company (VP of Supply Chain, Director of Replenishment and 11 Supply Chain Managers). After successfully completing this high-visibility project, the top supply chain executive for Home Depot asked Rodney to stay on board to lead all professional and executive supply chain recruitment for the company which included both corporate and field responsibilities (~80 distribution centers).
In 2004 Rodney left The Home Depot and formed SCM Talent Group. He immediately accepted another consulting engagement with The Coca-Cola Company where he was tasked with leading professional and executive recruitment for all of Coke’s Supply Chain and Manufacturing functions. This included Global Sourcing & Procurement, Global Logistics, Supply & Demand Planning, Global Quality, Capital Programs/Engineering, Continuous Improvement and 22 Manufacturing Plants. In 2010 Rodney left Coca-Cola and worked on a few short-term supply chain recruiting engagements with Kimberly-Clark, Cummins and PWC.
In 2012 Rodney decided to expand the company’s service offerings beyond exclusive retained client engagements. He launched a new website and began to significantly expand his client base across most major industries within the United States. Rodney also relocated the company from Atlanta, GA to downtown Asheville, NC in efforts to be closer to family.
Rodney is extremely passionate about the field of supply chain management and is very active within the industry and various supply chain associations. He has presented at both CSCMP and APICS global conferences and has been serving as the Career Coach for APICS since 2014. In this role he is responsible for providing career development advice and content for APICS members which includes writing white papers and hosting corresponding webinars on a quarterly basis. Paul comes to SCM Talent Group with more than 20 years of professional recruiting experience. He cut his teeth in supply chain recruiting back in 1998 while working for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) as they ramped up their Supply Chain Management Practice. Paul was later hired as a supply chain recruiting consultant at The Home Depot by Rodney Apple, Founder of SCM Talent Group, to support a large hiring initiative at the company. Paul has served as Director of Recruiting for mid-sized to very large technical staffing firms where’s he led teams of up to 25 professional recruiters. At SCM Talent Group, Paul will lead the sourcing and recruitment function which includes growing our team of recruiters to support the ongoing growth of the company.
Katie Kurz joins the SCM Talent Group team as the Marketing and Sales Ambassador, where she will be using her talents to create and execute a variety of inbound and outbound marketing strategies to ensure alignment with SCM’s rich client base. Previously, Katie worked for two years as a part-time Marketing and Communications Intern at a progressive Venture Capital Firm while pursuing her degree. Katie brings a wealth of knowledge in web based marketing having managed several web sites and their social media strategy for three software and solution companies in the Venture portfolio. Her experience with CMS systems, industry research and the creation of thought-provoking content will be highly utilized in this role. Katie graduated in May 2016 from The University of Cincinnati with a B.A. in Rhetoric and Professional Writing and a minor in Marketing.
Chet joins the SCM Talent Group team as a Supply Chain Recruiter where he is responsible for sourcing and recruiting top talent for client search assignments located throughout the United States. Prior to joining SCM Talent Group, Chet recruited for a large staffing firm servicing several Fortune 500 companies, primarily in the Manufacturing and Banking industries. In this role, he recruited for procurement, inventory planning and technical support positions. Most recently, Chet served in a Human Resources role at an automotive manufacturing facility where he was responsible for partnering with hiring managers to align staffing needs and sourcing plans with continuously changing business demands. His experience working with candidates, employees, and hiring managers for several global manufacturing firms provides a great insight into the challenges and obstacles faced by both hiring managers and job seekers. Chet graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, and currently resides in Asheville, NC.
Bailey joins the SCM Talent Group team as a Supply Chain Recruiter where she is responsible for sourcing and recruiting top talent for clients across the nation. Prior to joining SCM Talent Group, Bailey managed recruitment efforts within a very large pharmaceutical manufacturing facility on the Human Resources team. Her experience includes full-cycle recruiting, contingent labor contract management, employee relations, and lean manufacturing training. Bailey graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S in Agricultural Business Management with a concentration in Biological Sciences.
Grant comes to SCM Talent Group to support the company’s recruitment and client development initiatives. Prior to joining SCM Talent Group, Grant spent four years working a for leading national staffing agency in account management and recruiting. He has several years of experience providing recruitment support to Fortune 500 and mid-sized companies spanning disciplines that include manufacturing, warehousing, procurement, and engineering. Grant has led various recruiting teams, managed over 200 contract employees and partnered with clients to help achieve their hiring initiatives. He received his office’s Partner Impact Award, Voice of the Customer Experience, and Guiding Principles award while with his most recent employer Prior to this last job, he worked as Sales Representative for a global manufacturing company. Grant graduated from McDaniel College in Westminster, MD receiving a B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science.
